Note Typically it takes about 15 minutes for DNS changes to take effect. However, it can take up to 72 hours for a changed record to propagate through the DNS system. If you’re having trouble adding DNS records, see Troubleshoot issues after changing your domain name or updating DNS records.
Find your DNS records at Yahoo! Small Business

Add a record to verify that you own the domain
If Yahoo! Small Business is your DNS hosting provider, to add a record at Yahoo! Small Business to help Office 365 confirm that you own your domain, use the steps in the following table.Note This record is used only to confirm that you own your domain; it doesn’t affect anything else.

Verify your domain in Office 365. | Important Wait about 15 minutes before you do this, so the record you just created can update across the Internet. Go back to Office 365 and follow the steps below to request a verification check. The check looks for the TXT record you added to Yahoo! Small Business in the previous step. When it finds the correct TXT record, the domain is verified.

Change your domain’s name server records
When you get to the last step of the wizard, you have one task remaining. To complete setting up your domain with Office 365, you change your domain’s NS records at your domain registrar to point to the Office 365 primary and secondary name servers. Then, because Office 365 hosts your DNS, we can set up the required records for you so that email, Lync, and your public website work with your domain.Caution When you change your domain’s NS records to point to the Office 365 name servers, all the services that are currently associated with your domain are affected. If you skipped any steps of the wizard, or if you’re using your domain for blogs, shopping carts, or other services, there are additional steps that are required to make sure that this transition doesn't result in service downtime, such as loss of email access or your current website being inaccessible.
For example, here are some additional steps that might be required for email and website hosting:

Adding an additional domain? You can take steps while you add the domain to keep its website hosted where the site is hosted now.

If you have a website already, you can choose to keep your website with your current hosting provider.
