PM approves low-cost �Apna Ghar� housing scheme
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday
approved the establishment of a company under the supervision of the
Ministry of Housing and Works to initiate a government housing scheme for the low-income strata of society.
The scheme would be called “Apna Ghar” scheme. The Prime Minister made these directions while presiding over a high-level meeting on low-income housing scheme here at the Prime Minister House this evening.
The Prime Minister said that the objective of this scheme is to provide housing units to low-income sections of society at low-cost and easy installments.
He further directed that a separate package should be initiated under the rubric of the “Apna Ghar” housing scheme for the needy, widows etc. and that such people be separately given financial assistance to pay the installments.
The Prime Minister resolved that a respectable living on the models of Turkey and China would be made available to the citizens of the country.
The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Housing and Works to chalk out all the details and other criteria of the project by the end of this month.
It was also decided in the meeting to make an Advisory Board to look after the affairs of the housing scheme.
The Prime Minister was apprised during the meeting that provinces have been written for the site selection and allocation of land for the project.

- Down payment of 20% is mandatory after verification of particulars.

General Dermatology Hair Loss
Humans are unique in sporting a thick growth of hair
localized to the scalp. Whatever protection from the elements this may
have afforded our ancestors seems to have devolved into a concern
related more to appearance than to function. In some cultures, great
importance is attached to having a beautiful mane of hair, and much time
and money may be spent on maintaining that.
To begin to understand hair loss, a few facts
about hair growth: Each hair goes through a growing phase of several
years (anagen) a resting phase of several months (catagen), and a
shedding phase (telogen). Normally one loses 50 to 100 hairs daily.
A few extra hairs shed per day may cause
alarm. The concern is that loss will be rapid and progressive, and lead
to complete baldness. A visit to the dermatologist may quell concerns
and present options for the treatment of hair loss.
The evaluation begins with the question, “Is
the hair breaking or being shed?” Hair breakage typically comes from
inappropriate use of chemicals, cosmetic products, or styles which
involve traction (pulling).
Hair shedding, on the other hand, may denote a
systemic process. Thyroid disease, anemia, medications, hormonal
changes, low dietary protein, high fever, or surgery all may precipitate
hair loss. A complete medical evaluation, with laboratory studies, by a
dermatologist is needed.
Diseases of the scalp, such as lupus and
alopecia areata, infections, or psoriasis may also cause hair loss.
Evaluation and biopsy may disclose a treatable illness.
Hereditary thinning of the hair, or
androgenetic alopecia, occurs in men and women. When it is identified
as the cause of hair loss, several types of treatment may be
appropriate.
In short, hair loss is a symptom which may
stem from many causes. Evaluation may explain, and often permit,
treatment of the loss.

How Fraxel Laser Works
Fraxel Laser Treatment produces thousands of
tiny but deep columns of treatment in your skin, known as microthermal
treatment zones. This treatment eliminates old epidermal pigmented
cells. It also penetrates deep into the dermis. Just as important,
though, are the areas of skin the Fraxel laser leaves untouched. For
every microthermal zone the laser targets and treats intensively, it

were treated at once, using the body's natural healing process to create

In an FDA-cleared study of Fraxel treatment
of skin around the eyes, patients, investigators, and a review panel of
expert dermatologists all reported significant improvements in skin
texture, wrinkles, and skin discolorations such as age spots and sun
spots.
Fraxel Treatment Plan
Before treatment, you and your doctor will
discuss which area(s) of your skin is appropriate for treatment, what
kind of results you can expect, what to look for after treatment, and
how often treatment will be scheduled. Because Fraxel Laser treatment
spares healthy tissue, it is effective even on delicate skin areas, such
as the neck, chest, and hands.
Preparing For Treatment
Fraxel Laser Treatment can be performed using
only a topical anesthetic. The treatment area will be thoroughly
cleansed prior to the procedure.
What Happens After Treatment
You will experience a mild sunburn
sensation for about an hour and then virtually no discomfort. The skin
will have a pinkish tone for five to seven days. New epidermal skin
develops within 24 hours. This process of skin repair involves:
- Bronzing: Your skin will have a bronze appearance that lasts anywhere from three to fourteen days, depending on the treatment level.
- Flaking: Your skin will naturally and vigorously exfoliate as the reorganized epidermal skin replaces dead tissue. Flaking is similar to that of minor sunburn, without the associated pain. Use of a moisturizer will mask the appearance of flaking.
- Sunscreen: Use sunscreen at least twice daily to protect your skin from sun exposure during the healing phase and for several months after treatment. Apply a moisturizing sun block with an SPF of at least 30-plus. For added protection from sunlight, use wide-brimmed hats.
Over the following weeks and months, the body
repairs the deeper dermal tissues that have been affected by Fraxel
Laser treatment, producing beneficial changes associated with a healthy
appearance of your skin.
General Dermatology Acne Therapy
Acne is a genetic, hormonal, and inflammatory disease
characterized by overproduction of oil by the sebaceous glands, plugging
of the sebaceous glands to form micro- and macro- comedones
(blackheads) and, finally, action of skin bacteria on oil trapped
underneath the skin, to produce red inflammatory cystic lesions.
Traditional therapies for acne include:
- Keralytic agent which thin the top layer of skin and unplug the oil glands. Topical retinoids fall into this category
- Topical antiseptics and antibiotics which diminish the numbers of bacteria in the skin
- Oral antibiotics which similarly diminish the bacteria, and reduce inflammation
- More severe cases of acne can be treated with isotretinoin (formerly known as Accutane), which is a systemic retinoid.
All of these treatments have benefits for
different types of acne, and are still the mainstay and starting point
for most cases. Drs. Elliott and Edhegard work with patients to choose
the most effective and tolerable regimen based on each person’s skin
type, prior treatments, and types of acne.
There has been some interest and some
research in photodynamic therapy (PDT) of acne. The first step of PDT
is in-office application of a topical medication to the affected skin.
After a period of time (usually 1-3 hours), the drug is then washed off
and the skin is exposed to particular wavelengths of light. The
applied medication is photo-activated, resulting in the release of
singlet oxygen molecules, which contribute to the killing P.acnes, the
bacterial culprit in acne. The light also seems to cause involution of
the sebaceous glands. The treatment is repeated weekly for several
consecutive weeks.
What other conditions can be treated with PDT?
Photodynamic therapy has been effective in
the treatment of actinic keratosis (pre-cancerous spots), sundamaged
skin, acne, warts, and many other diseases.
Is PDT uncomfortable?
During PDT the skin is washed several times
and the activated substance is applied. Either of these may cause
stinging. Most people experience mild burning or itching for about one
hour after the procedure, although this can last a day or two. Mild to
moderate redness may also be experienced for 24 to 48 hours. After PDT,
a small amount of activated substance remains in the skin for 24 to 48
hours. Sunlight and even indoor light may affect this and cause redness
and itching. Use of sunscreen and a hat may diminish the undesired.
Swelling (especially around the eyes) and peeling of treated skin may
