Yahoo Site Builder Advanced
Yahoo SiteBuilder may only be a fleeting afterthought of Yahoo's web hosting service, but it still allows you to create an average business site. The SiteBuilder comes as you rent the server space. This website builder should have the power of the developer behind it, but it feels as though Yahoo stopped updating it a few years ago.
We tested the site builder and found it far more difficult than average to use. It doesn't use the newer drag-and-drop format. Instead, you use a standard Windows toolbar to add to and edit your page. They boast over 380 templates, but they aren't industry-specific, and more or less rely on different placement of boxes within your page. The designs are so simple that it's up to you to maintain a modern look.
The marketing features for this site builder are decent. Adding eCommerce options is possible but not entirely user friendly. Yahoo allows you to add their proprietary shopping cart for an extra fee. You can add Paypal anywhere on the site.
The Yahoo SiteBuilder does provide advertising credits to market your site on the Yahoo and Bing networks. Unfortunately, that first-party branding keeps you from ranking higher on Google.
You can certainly build a website using this service, but it seems like the intent of offering this service is to get you attached to Yahoo's hosting service. The Advanced plan provides a free domain for a year, which coincides with the ability to manage only one domain per account. The storage space is an impressive 500 GB. It also allows you to have an unlimited amount of pages and email addresses.
Being the corporation it is, Yahoo's support staff is nearly impossible to communicate with. We waited several days for an email response. Its phone support is concerned far more with the hosting packages than the web creator. Otherwise, the website does have tutorials and forums to see if others had the same issues as you might.
